Comedy Show raised over $6,000!

The 3rd Annual “Laugh Today, Live Forever” Comedy Show was held on September 15th at Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub in Mockingbird Station. The event raised over $6,000 through admission sales, raffle tickets, and the live and silent auction! 98.7 KLUV’s Promo Team came to offer fun games and prizes. Comedic performances by Locked Out Comedy, Angelia Walker and Flo Hernandez kept the crowd laughing all night!

The Comedy Show Chair, Cara “CC” Carmickle, opened the show by talking about the importance of September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Everyone in the audience wore a gold ribbon in support of the cause. CC told the audience about how her family was affected by pediatric cancer when her nephew was diagnosed. Thankfully, he is now cancer free and enjoying just being a kid!

Children’s Cancer Fund would like to thank Cara “CC” Carmickle and the Comedy Show Committee for their hard work over the last several months and on the day of the event. We are very grateful to Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub for allowing us to have the event at their location for free. Our wonderful comedians also performed at no cost to CCF, and 98.7 KLUV gave us free advertising on their radio station. This allows CCF to give back as much money as possible to pediatric cancer research and treatment programs at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas!

International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day

Organizations around the world will join forces today to raise awareness for childhood cancer. The aim of the day is to help children with cancer get the best possible treatment and care, no matter where they live in the world, by raising both awareness and money.

The treatment and care of pediatric cancer patients requires a whole interdisciplinary team, to provide not just the medical treatment of the child (which may include surgery and radiation), but also the psychosocial support for the child and the whole family. Close cooperation between the medical team at the hospital and the parents of the child is considered to be an essential component of the successful treatment and care of the child.

Every advancement in curing childhood cancer has come through research. Please consider making a donation today by clicking the “Donate Now” button on our web site or sponsoring one of our events. Together we all can make a difference!
