On Thursday, May 27th, everyone gathered at City Cafe to celebrate their 25th Anniversary with owner, Karim Alaoui. He graciously hosted the event and made Children’s Cancer Fund the beneficiary of the ticket sales, silent auction and raffle. Good times were had by all as usual at City Cafe. Thanks to everyone who attended and enjoyed the evening with us!

The event expenses for Children’s Cancer Fund were underwritten by Janet Stone, 2009 President and current CCF board member. Lindy Berkley, CCF President-Elect for 2011, spoke about our organization at the event and introduced Amber Craven, the artist for the event invitation. Amber pulled the winning lucky raffle ticket, and she presented Karim with her framed artwork.
Amber, 9, lives in Murphy with her mother Robin, father Darrell, sister Ashley, and brother Austin. She loves spending time with her pets. She has a dog Chloe, two cats Princess and Smokey, and a rabbit named Frisky. Amber wants to be an artist or a singer when she grows up. Her heroes are men and women in the armed forces who fight for our freedom like her cousin Sandi and her husband Rick. Her favorite 3rd grade subjects at Martha Hunt Elementary are math and art. Amber’s favorite singer is Rihanna, and her favorite song is “Umbrella”. On the weekends, she enjoys playing with her best friend Skylar and cooking breakfast with her family. She would like to go to Hollywood to meet movie stars some day. Amber enjoys singing, dancing, drawing, baking cookies, and making scrapbooks.
Amber was diagnosed with Severe Chronic Neutropenia, a pre-leukemic condition that converts to Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
