The Great Pumpkin Race
The Children’s Cancer Fund invites you and your family to The Great Pumpkin Race 15K Training Run, 5K Competitive Race, or the 1-Mile Fun Run. Family entertainment, food, fruit, water, and lots of fun will be available directly following the race. Race results will be tracked by RunOn! Texas, posted on our website, posted on the RunOn! website and listed in the Dallas Morning News following the race.
15K Training Run
This is the perfect opportunity to train for your upcoming marathon or half-marathon. The run will lead you through scenic White Rock Lake. The course will be run entirely on paved surface trails through the park and on city streets through the adjacent neighborhoods.
5K Competitive Race
Whether running, jogging or walking, the 5k Competitive is a timed event in which participants are treated to scenic views of White Rock Lake. Regardless if you’re a competitive runner, weekend warrior, or a casual walker, the Great Pumpkin Competitive Race is a truly unique event that everyone should experience.
1-Mile Fun Run
Children’s Cancer Fund invites adult and child participants to participate in the Fun Run. The Fun Run is a 1-Mile Run or walk through the scenic trails of White Rock Lake.
Children of all abilities and/or with special needs are encouraged to participate in the Fun Fun’s first race held on a shorter course. Each child participant in the Fun Run will receive a medal and a water bottle immediately after crossing the finish line. The Fun Run is indeed FUN! Therefore, individual times for the 1-Mile will not be recorded.
Haircut
Want to help young cancer patients build self-esteem? Start growing your hair out now in order to recieve a free haircut on November 15, 2008 when you attend The Great Pumpkin Race & Haircut! All hair will be donated to make wigs for young cancer patients. Click here to view the guidelines for hair donations.
ChampionChip Timing
The Great Pumpkin 15K Training Run and 5K Competitive Race will use the computerized ChampionChip timing system, which records your time precisely from start to fininsh. Awards will be based on gun time. You must pick up your loaner chip at the event race the morning of the race. You may use your own Chip, however make sure it is entered on your entry form and it is your responsibility to ensure that it matches your bib number. If you do not wear a chip, you will not be timed and will not be included in any results. All loaner chips must be surrendered at the finish line.
Ipods & Headphones
The Great Pumpkin Race is run on a closed course, therefore, there are no restrictions on the use of such devices.
